A NICE Night - Get your tickets today to support Childs Elementary

The annual fundraiser for Neighbors Investing in Childs Elementary (NICE) is an elegant evening to gather, socialize, and support public education. WGet ready to enjoy food, drinks, and dancing! Menu created by renowned local Chef Juan Lopez of On Point Bistro.  

A NICE Night will feature a silent auction with great donations from your favorite local businesses.    

Grab your early bird tickets for $55 by the end of March. All tickets after that date are $65. Please purchase tickets in advance. Note: this is a 21+ event.

2019 South Philadelphia Candidate Forum - April 30th

On Tuesday, April 30, 2019 East Point Breeze Neighbors (EPBN), Neighbors in Action, and the Point Breeze Community Development Coalition in conjunction with several other community organizations in South Philadelphia will be holding a candidates' forum.  This event will be held at Child’s Elementary School auditorium located at 16th and Wharton Streets from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

We are inviting candidates for Mayor, Commissioner, and 2nd District City Council. Please join us!

Location Change for February 2019 Zoning Meeting

MEETING LOCATION CHANGED TO REED STREET APARTMENTS

Dear Friends & Neighbors,

Join us for our monthly Zoning Committee meeting tonight, Wednesday, February 20th, 6:30-7:30PM at Reed Street Apartments on the corner of 16th and Reed. (Moved from our usual location at DiSilvestro Rec Center.) Don't let the snow stop you!

The agenda is below:

  • 1730 Wharton Street  - application is for ten (10) family dwelling in an existing structure
  • 1526 Manton Street - for the erection of a 3rd floor addition, a rear addition, 2 roof decks and a roof deck access structure on an existing attached structure; single family home
  • 1735 Federal Street – for a rear addition and a third story addition, one (1) roof deck and one (1) roof deck access structure to an existing two (2) story attached structure; for use as a two (2) family dwelling.
  • 1726 Reed Street – erection of a two (2) story rear addition to an existing two (2) story attached masonry structure

November 2018 Monthly Newsletter

Join us for our monthly general meeting this Wednesday, November 28th, 6:30-7:30PMat the Reed Street Presbyterian Apartments (16th & Reed). We will have two guests:

  • City of Philadelphia Department of Licenses and Inspection - Learn about how a 311 request goes from a resident to L&I, and the City's process to resolve the request.
  • South Philly Food Co-op - Hear about the co-op's plans to open a community-owned grocery store in 2019.

Planning & Zoning Committee

EPBN's Planning & Zoning Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month at DiSilvestro Rec Center (behind the health center/library, 15th and Morris).

Our next meeting is on Wednesday, December 19th at 6:30PM. The agenda as of now is below:

Clean & Green

EPBN participated in PHS's fall tree planting, held on Saturday, November 17th. The weather was great as we planted 32 trees in Point Breeze, with EPBN responsible for planting 22 of the total. Big thanks to Newbold CDC and West Passyunk Neighbors, along with South Philly Green, the PHS Tree Tenders group for the area. Special thanks to volunteers from the Travis Manion Foundation, and extra thanks to The Thirsty Soul, for hosting our after-planting gathering for the volunteers after the event. Photo below!

Happy Hour Home Tour - October 20th

Join us for East Point Breeze Neighbors' 12th annual Happy Hour Home Tour (formerly called the Beer Tour) on October 20th, 2018! Hop from home to home while sampling food from South Philly restaurants, sipping ciders and beer from local breweries, and meeting your awesome neighbors. Tickets are only $45 and they support East Point Breeze Neighbors and our cleaning, greening, zoning, public safety, and outreach activities. We plant trees, hear zoning cases, and provide information to neighbors on crime and this fundraiser is what makes it all happen!

Attendees will be automatically entered to win prizes including gift baskets and gift cards to Srouts, Greenstreet Coffee, Openbox Athletics, Talutto's Italian Restaurant, and H. Smith Shop.

Point Breeze Community Cookout - Saturday July 21st at 12pm

Come one, come all, to the 3rd Annual Point Breeze Community Cookout, co-sponsored by East Point Breeze Neighbors and Neighbors In Action Association. Hot dogs and burgers will be provided, along with some games and entertainment for the kids. Bring a side dish or a snack to share.
