PWD Rain Check Workshop at Broad & Federal on Thursday!

East Point Breeze Neighbors is excited to host our very own Rain Check Workshop, in partnership with the Philadelphia Water Department and the Philadelphia Horticultural Society. Rain Check is a program that provides subsidies to homeowners for stormwater management initiatives such as:

- FREE Rain Barrels and installation
- Downspout Planters
- Rain Gardens
- Backyard concrete removal and the installation of permeable pavers

In order to qualify for city susbidy, you MUST attend a (rather fascinating and interesting!) Rain Check workshop. Conveniently, we have one scheduled in Point Breeze this Thursday, October 5th, 2017 at PEP (Broad and Federal) at 7pm. Visit this website to sign up:

Thank you to Programs Employing People for allowing us to use their space for this event!

Sick and tired of the litter in this City?

Yo South Philly -
Sick and tired of the litter in this City? Philadelphia's Zero Waste and Litter Cabinet just released its action plan for the City to reach (near) zero waste and tackle litter with short and long term goals.

Join East Point Breeze Neighbors in welcoming the City's Zero Waste and Litter Director Nic Esposito at our next general meeting, Wednesday, August 23rd at 6:30PM at Reed Street Apartments (1401 S 16th St).

Visit cleanphl.org to read the full plan and learn more about available clean and green resources.

Nic Esposito is the Zero Waste and Litter Director for the City of Philadelphia. After serving Philadelphia Parks and Recreation (PPR) for 4 years as the PowerCorpsPHL Project Manager and then PPR's Sustainability Manager, he was brought on by the Managing Director's Office to take on the challenge of creating a coordinated public and private sector plan to address Philadelphia's litter problem while setting Philadelphia on a path to Zero Waste by 2035. Join us as Nic discusses the Zero Waste and Litter Cabinet’s plans as well as ways for East Point Breeze Neighbors to get involved in progressing Philadelphia to a Zero Waste and Litter-free future.

Neighborhood Cookout Next Saturday!

East Point Breeze Neighbors and Neighbors In Action Association are happy to announce a co-presented Community Cookout! Next Saturday, July 15, bring your families, your roommates, your neighbors, and your best selves to Childs Elementary School Playground (Latona between 15th and 16th) for some community fun.

Hot dogs, hamburgers and veggie options will be provided courtesy of NiA and EPBN. We'll have music and kid stuff and all the fixins for the dogs and burgers. You should bring a side, dessert or drink, chairs, games, etc. We're in need of a few necessities, like ice and propane. Send us a message or comment here if you can bring something and we'll let you know what we need.

Last year's picnic on Manton Green was a huge success and a lot of fun, and we're thrilled this year to be partnering Neighbors in Action. Which means our chances of a Miguel Garces vs Andre Ford Limbo Competition are very high!

See you all there!
