 Community Garden Day

Join the Bouvier Community Garden on Saturday, June 16th from 10am to 2pm and discover your neighborhood commnity garden. Across the city, 60 vibrant and unique community gardens and shared open spaces welcome you to participate in an array of engaging activities for all ages— from garden tours, workshops and demonstrations to music, kid’s activities and BBQs. Visitors at Bouvier Garden are invited to ask questions and spend time in our space from 10am-2pm.

Wilma Theater's Portable Studio at South Philadelphia Library

The Portable Theater is a project of the Wilma Theater that sends Wilma theater artists to make theater with Philadelphians around the city. And they are will be at the South Philadelphia Branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia on Saturday, August 28th, 2018 at 2pm. See the flyer below for more information.

2018 PDAC Banquet Coming Up

The annual 17th Police District Advisory Council Banquet is coming up on Saturday, May 19th at 7pm! The banquet supports programming for the district, which includes the Blue Ribbon Awards, honoring officers each month who have meade steller contributions to the community. The PDAC also provides annual scholarships for local teens, hosts community block parties, and feeds officers and those in need during the holidays.

The banquet will include dinner, an open bar, and entertainment from local artists. It's a great time and supports a great cause!

South Philadelphia Candidate Forum - April 10th

Meet Candidates. Ask Questions. Get Informed!

On Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 6:30pm, Point Breeze community organizations in South Philadelphia will be holding a candidates’ forum. Come out to meet the candidates, ask questions, and get informed! Invited guests include Democrats and Republicans running for Governor, Lt. Governor, US. Senate, US Congress (new 3rd district), State Representative (186th District), and State Senate (8th District). Cast your vote on May 15th Primaries after being fully informed about the candidates and the Issues. This event will be held at Child’s Elementary School auditorium located at 16th and Wharton Streets from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.

The event will be co-hosted by Neighbors in Action, Point Breeze Community Development Coalition, Unity in the Community, Washington Avenue Property Owners Association, South of South Neighborhood Association, South Philadelphia H.O.M.E.S., and Point Breeze Community Development Coalition.

How is City Government Planning to Make Streets Safer?

Did you know that Washington Avenue, South Broad Street, and West Passyunk Avenue are all a part of Philadelphia's High Injury Network? (See map below.) To follow up a presentation from the City's Vision Zero & Neighborhood Programs Coordinator Charlotte Castle at our General Meeting, here are some resources from Vision Zero.
